Browsing the Deviantart today, I found something that brought me back such nostaligia, I was suddenly 5 years old again, sitting in a bed with my dad while I stuttered out the words that seemed near impossible for me to sound out. I grew misty eyed and smiled a bit to myself, sadly.
Calvin and Hobbes.
An old comic that was back in my prime, it meant more to me than almost everything, save my mom and dad when I was growing up. To me, it wasn't just another comic people could read out and laugh, it was another little portal that my 5 year old mind would come up with, to an amazing world that the power of the imagination of a fellow 5 year old COULD make a stuffed animal come to life.
Calvin and Hobbes was one of my childhood memories. It helped me read, helped me write, it made me laugh, it brought me closer to my mom and dad because they too would laugh at the jokes that Calvin would tell his stuffed animal in his little 5 year old knowledge.
It was a beautiful thing, an absolutely beautiful thing that I saw on here all this tribute to Calvin and Hobbes, not because people felt like writing, but because they too liked Calvin and hobbes, and felt a tribute was necessary.
I wish I had my books at this moment, so I could read them, but being in England it's a bit difficult. So I know the first thign I'm going to go home and read when I get home.
Calvin and Hobbes may have ended back in the 90's, but it goes on in the hearts of the people everyone who still enjoy it, be it writing Calvin finding an moth ridden Hobbes in a box of old toys and smiling to himself, or drawing another picture showing that no matter how old someone can get, a true, childhood friend, be it made of skin and bone, or fiber and stuffing, can never be left behind, but cherished for the rest of your life.
Calvin and Hobbes wasn't just a comic for me.
It was a portal to a fun time in my life. A moral in life. It was...a friend of mine.
If you happen to have an old toy or a friend you don't talk to anymore, I implore you, go find it and hug it, have as much time reminiscing as i did in the few moments I've been looking at the Fanfiction, and the Drawings of an old time happyness for me.
To quote the very last lines of Calvin and Hobbes.
"It's a wonderful world, old friend...let's go exploring."
I love you, Calvin and Hobbes. Thank you for making me who I am today.

Oh, and don't worry about me anymore. I'm not angry with you and I'm not sad. And I want to be friends with Claire, really and I'm sorry if I've been upsetting you with things that I've been saying lately. I'd really rather be telling you this 'in person' per se, but you're not on and I gotta get ready for work soon. So I loves. I miss. Talk to you when you can get on.
